Governance Model

Effective governance is critical to the success and sustainability of any organization, and this is especially true for decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). THe DSAFE DAO and all Nodes of the Ecosystem couldhave its own governance model. The DAO that operates as the brain of DSAFE ecosystem, willuse a robust and transparent governance model that allows all active and responsable nodes (humans & proxys) along with the members of the projects developed members to participate in the decision-making process and contribute to the direction and success of the whole ecosystem as a living social organism.

There are several different kinds of proposals that can be put forth within our governance model, including meta proposals that modify the governance process itself, proclamation proposals that adopt a statement, expense proposals that transfer tokens outside of the DAO's treasury, parameter change proposals that modify contract parameters, and treasury management proposals that manage the ecosystem’s assets. Each proposal goes through several stages as it moves through the governance process, including community review, an off-chain vote, and an on-chain enactment. During the community review stage, members can provide feedback and the proposer can consider this feedback before advancing the proposal to the next stage. The off-chain vote allows members to cast their ballots and determine the outcome of the proposal, while the on-chain enactment stage is used to ratify the proposal and put it into effect. Overall, our governance model is designed to be transparent, inclusive, and effective, ensuring that all members have a voice in the direction and success of the ecosystem.

Kinds of proposals

  • Meta: Proposal that modifies the current governance process.
  • Proclamation: Proposal for the DAO to adopt a statement. Since multiple choices would be written in English and not encoded, this is the only kind of proposal on Snapshot, or any other DApp that can be used as voting systems other than Single Choice.
  • Expense: Proposal to transfer an ERC20 token outside of the DAO's treasury, with the expectation that it flows outside of its control.
  • Parameter change: Proposal to perform a parameter change in one of the contracts controlled by the DAO.
  • Treasury management proposal: Proposal to perform an on-chain treasury management operation.
  • Custodial treasury management proposal: Proposal to perform a treasury management operation, with the DAO keeping the legitimate ownership over the assets but holding them through a third-party entity.

Stages of a proposal

  1. Community review: The community provides feedback on a published proposal for the proposer to consider. The proposer must explain how the proposal helps the DAO in achieving its Goals. After the minimum duration required for this stage, the proposer can freeze their proposal, advancing it to the next stage. After freeze, any further modifications to the proposal require restarting the process.
  2. Off-chain vote: Members can vote without the need of DSAFE blockchain.
  3. On-chain enactment: DAO members can ratify the proposal in DSAFE´s blockchain.
